Santander customers unable to access money as banking services go down

  • Santander has suffered a major nationwide service outage, leaving customers across the UK unable to access their money through mobile apps, online banking , telephone support, or chat channels.
  • According to the outage tracking website Down Detector, the technical issues began at around 11.30am UK time and appeared to affect users nationwide.
  • In an official statement, Santander apologised for the disruption and assured affected customers that teams were working urgently to resolve the problem and restore services as quickly as possible.
  • The bank did not provide information regarding the root cause of the system failure, nor did it offer a timeline for when full service is expected to be restored despite widespread customer queries.
  • Frustrated account holders turned to social media to voice their concerns over being locked out of their accounts and unable to reach customer support representatives.
