Embattled radio company ARN is staring down the barrel of a protracted legal fight after former prize host Kyle Sandilands indicated he will sue them for cancelling his contract.

Sandilands and his companies filed a claim in the Federal Court on Friday evening after market close, ARN said in a statement to the ASX on Monday.
