Sánchez announces 21 urgent housing measures after nationwide protests ahead of snap election

Spain’s government approved urgent measures to tackle the housing crisis on Tuesday after violence erupted in Barcelona and tens of thousands took to the streets demanding a quick resolution.

The angry protests followed nationwide demonstrations over the weekend. All were triggered by the eviction of 87-year-old María del Carmen Abascal from her Madrid home last month.
