The San Francisco Catholic Archdiocese has agreed to a substantial $395 million settlement to resolve over 500 lawsuits alleging child sexual abuse by church officials. This landmark agreement, announced by plaintiffs' attorneys on Monday, marks a significant step for survivors seeking justice.
The resolution, which comes three years after the archdiocese filed for bankruptcy, will cover approximately 530 survivors of child sexual abuse. As part of the terms, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone is mandated to write a personal apology letter to each survivor.
