American Football team San Francisco 49ers have taken to Twitter to wish Leeds United luck ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season. Leeds will kick-off their third season back in the top-flight when they play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road this afternoon.
The 49ers Enterprises already own 44% of Leeds and have a deal in place in excess of £400m to buy the club. The deal also included an option to take overall control of the Whites by January 2024.

In their tweet, the 49ers wrote: ‘Let’s go Leeds! Wishing the best of luck to our friends at @LUFC as they kick off a new season in the @premierleague’.
Interest in Leeds from the United States is only likely to increase further with Jesse Marsch at the helm. They will be keen to see how USMNT stars Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson fare in the Premier League, while their connection with the 49ers will also create outside interest.
