According to a person familiar with the matter, the team believes that the field on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) campus is too soft. The person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, revealed this information since neither the league nor the team has officially commented on the issue.
To accommodate the 49ers, sod was recently installed over the existing turf field at the UNLV campus for their use during Super Bowl week. However, a report by CBS Sports initially brought attention to the team's concerns, but it clarified that the field does meet the safety requirements established by the league.
