Teen charged in connection with death of Bellshill man Samuel Hamilton

A teenager has been charged in connection with the death of Samuel Hamilton in Bellshill.

The 56-year-old was found seriously injured outside his home on Thorndean Avenue in the Lanarkshire town at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, May 18.

He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Police probing the incident have revealed they have arrested and charged a 17-year-old man in connection with the death.

He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, May 30.

It comes after Richard Wotherspoon, 32, was also arrested, charged and appeared in court over the incident.

Mr Wotherspoon faced one charge of murder when he appeared in private at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody for further examination.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police Scotland can confirm a 17-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Samuel Hamilton in Bellshill.

"Mr Hamilton, 56, was found seriously injured outside his home on Thorndean Avenue around 11.30pm on Wednesday, 18 May, 2022 and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

"The 17-year-old is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, 30 May, 2022.

"A 32-year-old man has already been arrested, charged and appeared in court in connection with the death."
