Samuel Chukwueze price tag revealed as Edu plans Arsenal transfer rebuild under Mikel Arteta

After a blistering start to the 2022/23 season, which has seen Arsenal fly to the top of the Premier League table and finish top of their Europa League group, plans for summer and January arrivals are being set in motion as Mikel Arteta hopes to continue building an impressive squad to challenge for silverware.

Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, who both saw success at Manchester City, joined Arteta's Arsenal in the summer as experienced players who have the mentality of winners. The arrivals of Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira were very much acquisitions for the future and to help with current squad depth.

The time allowed by Arsenal higher-ups has seen Arteta build a frightening team with his methods at the forefront, and he is now beginning to see the fruits of his labour with the Gunners winning 16 of their 20 competitive matches so far this season.

As Arteta recently pointed out though, nothing has been achieved as of yet and if Arsenal wish to sustain their domestic dominance, quality players need to keep being signed so they are able to keep up with the likes of Manchester City. January could prove to be a huge month for the Gunners in the short-term, to help with possible fatigue in their likely title-battle with Pep Guardiola's side and in the long-term, allowing Arsenal to consistently challenge for the top prizes over the coming seasons.

Palmeiras midfielder Danilo, Leicester's Youri Tielemans and Mykhaylo Mudryk of Shakhtar Donetsk have all been linked with possible moves to north London. Danilo and Mudryk look more likely in January, as Arsenal are set to wait for Tielemans Foxes contract to expire in the summer of 2023, football.london understands.

Arteta was asked in his press conference ahead of Wolves where he feels the squad is short, but he was quick to shut down the idea that his squad is lacking in depth.

"No," he replied. "This is a comment that I made the first day after the transfer window.

"It doesn't mean it’s not good enough. It is short and we have used players like, for example, Marquinhos, who we had other plans but he has been an important player and a player who has the capacity.

"We have had injuries as well. Mo has been out for three months, Thomas was out for a period and we had Alex out for a long time too. We have had to adapt and we are willing to do that. The demands are going to be really big for everybody and we have to be ready for that."

Despite Arteta's comments, Arsenal are likely to head into the January market for more players and as football.london understands the Gunners could revive their summer interest in Danilo.

As for future acquisitions a new report from Fichajes has revealed that Samuel Chukwueze, a long-time Arsenal target, could be available for €40million (£35.1million) next summer with the Gunners keen on signing the Villareal winger.

Arsenal could look to sign an attacking player in January, but a player of Chukwueze's quality on that price tag in the summer could be an excellent deal and one worth following through on
