The S95C is an eminently capable TV, with fantastic contrast, superbly bright images and a full suite of gaming specs. But it lacks subtlety, making it a bit of a sledgehammer to crack a nut – shading could use more nuance, while overall picture settings could be dialled down a little. The sound is also a little thin and uninspiring.
For
- Incredible contrast
- Bright, vibrant and super-sharp
- Excellent gaming specs
Against
- A slight lack of picture subtlety
- No Dolby Vision
- Below-par sound for the price

The S95D is a big improvement on its already impressive predecessor. It's a much more balanced, consistent performer, with oodles of subtlety that was so sorely lacking from the S95C. Audio still leaves a lot to be desired, but that doesn't stop this being a frontrunner for TV of the year so far.
For
- Phenomenal brightness, contrast and colour
- Excellent gaming support
- Anti-reflection filter works almost uncannily well
Against
- Filter has minor negative side effects
- Audio lacks power and impact
- Some minor shadow detail loss
