Release date info and likely specs for the Galaxy Z TriFold just got leaked by multiple sources, giving us more insight into the long-rumored foldable than ever before.
Coming from Evan "evleaks" Blass and WitDisplay (via Ice Universe on X), we have all kinds of details to share, starting with apparent confirmation of the phone's name: Galaxy Z TriFold. This maintains the "Z" branding of Samsung's other foldables while making it clear what the central character of this particular model is.
Next, we have an alleged release date: December 5. This is outside of Samsung's usual launch windows, but it stands to reason that a unique device deserves special treatment, like a last-minute launch event all for itself.
As for price, we could be looking at a $3,000 cost for the TriFold. Combined with the rumors of limited launch regions, excluding Europe and the U.S., and it could be especially hard to get a glimpse of the Samsung triple foldable, even for the company's biggest fans.
Galaxy Z TriFold: The hardware

Now let's get to the specs. The Z TriFold apparently uses a 6.5-inch cover display, and an inner display measuring 10 inches when fully open. Peak brightness is apparently 2,600 nits for the outer screen and 1,600 nits for the inner display, which is in line with what we measured for the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
When open, the Z TriFold is said to measure 4.2mm thick, or 14mm when closed. Interestingly, the three sections of the Z TriFold apparently all have slightly different thicknesses, ranging between 3.9mm and 4.2mm. There's presumably some engineering reason for this that hopefully Samsung can explain when the phone is officially announced.

There's also a Snapdragon chip running the show, although neither Blass or WitDisplay tell us which one. There are two likely options here. It will be either the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, already used in the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy Z Fold 7; or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the latest chip that will likely be used by many of 2026's best Android phones, including the Galaxy S26 in at least some models and regions.
The only camera detail we get is that the main rear sensor is a 200MP unit. That fits with the 200MP main camera used on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which we can imagine will lend more of its camera array to its larger sibling.

Lastly, the Z TriFold supposedly has a 5,600 mAh battery capacity, or a 5,437 mAh rated capacity, as given by Blass. In case those two numbers are making you raise your eyebrow, no two batteries have identical capacities due to tiny differences in their manufacturing. So phone makers and other electronics companies give two figures.
The lower "rated capacity' number is the minimum capacity guaranteed by the manufacturer, while the higher "typical capacity" is the average battery size, and is normally the one you'll see in adverts or specs sheets.
Cautious excitement

It's becoming increasingly clear the Galaxy Z TriFold is on the brink of actually being confirmed. Between a quiet appearance at APEC CEO Summit in South Korea, a recently discovered listing in the Singapore electronics regulator's database, and now these specs leaks, the first Samsung triple-foldable feels more tangible than ever.
But I still have concerns about how good this phone will be out of the gate. As I've written about elsewhere, will there be apps ready to take advantage of such a large display? And what about pricing, durability, battery life and so on? It's not yet clear if a phone with two hinges is going to multiply the advantages offered by a regular folding phone, which is already a niche sub-species of the good old bar smartphone.
If we are getting a December 5 reveal, then we really don't have long to wait until we get our first proper look and hands-on with the Galaxy Z TriFold. But whether it happens then or at a later date in 2026, we'll be there to give you the full details.
