Hearts are on the trail of Australian winger Sammy Silvera.
MailSport understands the 22-year-old Central Coast Mariners star is on a list of potential targets for the Tynecastle club. Silvera is a team-mate of ex-Hibs striker Jason Cummings at the A-League outfit and was on the scoresheet in their 6-1 Grand Final win over Melbourne City last month. He has spent most of his career in Australia but also had a two-year spell at Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira from 2020. Silvera returned to the Mariners last summer and was a key player for Nick Montgomery’s side – scoring eight goals in 29 appearances.
But now the Jambos are interested in bringing the wide man to Scotland. Hearts have already had success in the Australian market with the signings of Cammy Devlin, Kye Rowles and Nathaniel Atkinson. And Silvera, who has represented the Socceroos at Under-23 level, could be next to join Steven Naismith’s squad.
Japanese right back Riku Handa is also a target following the departure of the experienced Michael Smith. The Tynecastle club are yet to add to their squad this summer since Naismith was appointed on a permanent basis.
But new faces could start arriving over the next couple of weeks. Naismith is set to take his squad to southern Spain for a warm weather training camp next Friday.
