Samia Longchambon 'nervous' about having first holiday without kids for 40th birthday

Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon will be celebrating her 40th birthday with her first-ever trip without her children.

The soap actress shares 12-year-old Freya Smith with her ex-husband Matthew Smith and seven-year-old Yves Joseph Longchambon with her husband Sylvian.

Sylvian planned a surprise getaway for his wife of six years and it will be the first time both will be apart from the kids for more than one night.

Samia's mother Patsy will be 'holding down the fort' while the two enjoy a romantic holiday away.

"I don’t know where we’re going," the actress revealed. "We’ve never had a weekend without the kids – I’m nervous!

"I’ve never spent two nights away from Yves. With Freya it’s different as she sees her dad a lot."

She continued to OK! Magazine : "All I know is that we’re not flying anywhere. Sylvian knows I’m not ready yet to leave the country without the kids."

After meeting on Dancing On Ice in 2013, Samia and her skater husband fell head over heels for each other.

Their son, Yves, was born via C-section in September 2015, almost a year before they tied the knot.

Freya, who was six at the time, walked Samia down the aisle.

The actress previously said she believed her later father, who sadly died of cancer in 2009, was responsible for helping her find love with the French ice dancer.

During an appearance on Loose Women, she said: "I believe in angels and I always think my dad sent Sylvain to me."

Meanwhile, Samia recently explained her career plan if acting no longer works out after 22 years.

The actress has played Maria Connor on the famous cobbles since 2000 and admits she doesn't plan on walking away just yet, but has confessed she does have a back-up option in place.

She confirmed she's actually a qualified reflexologist and would head back to the profession if acting came to an end.

She also recently completed a diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy, and was motivated to take up the course following her own struggles with anxiety.

"You never know," she confessed. "I love courses. A few years ago, I did my reflexology course.

"I’m a qualified reflexologist. If everything goes pear-shaped I can always pick that up again."
