Albert Sambi Lokonga has given his thoughts on who Arsenal should sign in the January transfer window to solve the attacking issues.
The Belgian liked an Instagram post about a report from ESPN who claimed that Arsenal are looking to sign Jonathan David from Lille and could make a late charge towards the end of the window.
The Gunners are in desperate need of a striker as this is an emerging crisis due to the shortage and lack of qualities in the forward positions.
Mikel Arteta’s side would certainly elevate with the signing of a new forward, and Arsenal fans would agree with Sambi Lokonga surrounding the potential incoming of Jonathan David.
Arsenal certainly value David as a quality player, as according to The Athletic, the club has been a long-time admirer of the young striker since his time in Belgium with Gent before he joined Lille in 2020.
David has been performing excellently this season in Ligue 1 and in the Champions League , as he played a pivotal part in the club’s European knockout stage progression.
It was also revealed that he is available for a transfer, as David’s agent Nick Mavromaras said he was available when speaking to Radio Canada.
“For us, the objective is to finish the season in Lille, but it will be his last season there for several reasons,” Mavromaras said when speaking about David’s future in France.”
He has been extremely prolific this season, which shows he has developed from year previously where he did not get off to the greatest of starts at Lille, however in this campaign, the Canadian international already has 12 goals in Ligue 1 this season, which is the highest in a league that boasts the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.
The Gunners are in desperate need of a striker as Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are Mikel Arteta’s only options in the forward positions.
It gets more daunting as according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein , Barcelona and Juventus have made official approaches to sign Pierre-Emerick Auameyang on loan until the summer, with Arsenal still pondering on whether to accept the deal.
This leaves Arsenal incredibly short in the attacking positions but the acquisition of David would not improve the quality of the squad, but also fill the void in that position, which Sambi Lokonga also seems to agree with.
