Sam Smith got emotional as they thanked fans for their support during the opening night of their tour in Sheffield.
The Unholy singer started their Gloria world tour on Wednesday evening at the Utilita Arena.
Sam, 30, delighted fans with their out-of-this-world vocals and intricate costumes while performing on stage.
They started the show with the classic hit, Stay With Me, before moving on to I'm Not The Only One.
Sam welcomed the audience to the show and said: "Seeing all of you to look at is a joy. Welcome to the Gloria tour.
"It has been so, so long since I have been on a stage like this. It's been five years and a lot has happened."
As reported by Yorkshire Live, they started to tear up and continued: "I just want to say (starts crying) thank you so much for being with me through these crazy times, it means the world to me.
"As long as you are happy, I will sing for you every night.
"Thank you for being here. Tonight is my chance to give as much energy to you to give you a good time. This show is about love and a show about freedom. It is so important to me that you all look to your left and right and say hello to everyone near you.
"This is a safe space and you can do whatever you want. I want you to have fun, and nothing can go wrong. I love you all. thank you for being here."
Sam will be performing in Dublin for the next two nights before moving on to the O2 Arena in London next week. Their European tour destinations include Berlin, Stockholm, Oslo, Amsterdam, Paris and more.
In July, Sam will be performing in the US, with shows in Miami, Nashville, New York and many more states.
Last year, Sam opened up about hitting 'rock bottom' when they were struggling with fame and gender identity.
The star is one of the UK's most successful singers, but faced backlash when they came out as non-binary in 2020.
Speaking to Cerys Matthews on Radio 2's First and Last, Sam said: "I was at my lowest in my life writing my third album. I was coming to terms with gender stuff. I felt like I had to live up to this character of Sam Smith.
"Fame is probably the biggest issue I have had in my life. It is this horrible one as you can't moan about it as I know I am very, very lucky to be in my position, but life does get turned on its head."
