Sam Smith's BRITs performance sparks Ofcom outcry over 'devil worship' and lingering snog

Ofcom have confirmed there have been over 100 complaints registered about The Brit Awards 2023 which took place on Saturday at The O2 Arena.

There was 106 complaints in total received for the ceremony that aired on ITV and was hosted by Mo Gilligan.

The majority of the complaints received were aimed at Sam’s performance of their controversial hit Unholy.

Sam was reportedly left furious that their BRITs performance was almost cancelled due to technical difficulties with their £500,000 set.

The non-binary singer who uses gender neutral pronouns, is believed to have been arguing backstage over the malfunctioning set.

Sam was alledgely not impressed as The BRITs crew tried to fix the technical issues on the set which affected the live TV awards ceremony's schedule and led to a recording of Adele performing last year being broadcast.

Sam lost out to Harry Styles on two occasions to add to their BRIT awards for Best Pop/R&B Act and Song of the Year with Kim Petras for Unholy.

Meanwhile, Sam's Grammy's performance was compared to "devil worship" in FCC complaints.

TMZ reported that they have obtained 18 complaints filed with the Federal Communications Commission following the Grammys.

Some complaints compared the non-binary singer's performance to devil worship while some claimed it was anti-Christian and had the potential to "increase violence against Christians".

One complaint said: "It was wrought with evil imagery, and depicted DEVIL WORSHIPING ACOLYTES writhing around on the floor virtually naked, and in CAGES. It was broadcast on live television, and I cannot believe that CBS allowed it."

Another said: "The performance of Sam Smith had people being whipped and in a cage. My 15 year old son who is an aspiring musician was traumatized by it."
