Sam Smith fans should prepare to hit the dance floor as the chart topping singer is set to release new music with a dance anthem beat.
The 29-year-old singer is well known for making music that includes songs and ballads all about heartache and heartbreak.
But the star is expected to unleash an uplifting new song that will be more like a dance smash than a ballad slow burn and fans should be able to hear the new tune very soon.
According to reports, Sam is set to release their first new music in almost two years later this month with a single titled Love Me More.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Sam is super excited to be making a long-awaited comeback and feels the time is ripe.
“They’re all about love, laughter and being able to go out and dance again and want that to reflect in their music after a heavy few years. Of course, Sam will be maintaining their classic sound too, but expect Love Me More to have an anthemic, dancey feel.
“The video is filming later this month, with the single expected to drop not long after.”
Sam’s last album, titled Love Goes, was released back in October 2020 and reached number two on the UK album charts.
The album – which received mixed reviews from critics – included the singles My Oasis, Diamonds and Kids Again.
Back in 2020, Sam – who will celebrate turning 30 this May – declared that they were looking forward to becoming a parent in their 30s.
The singer, who identifies as non-binary and previously said in a 2017 interview: "I feel just as much a woman as I am a man”, told Apple Music: "I want kids. I want all of it. I want all of it. I want to have kids.
"I want to be with the kids and I want to watch them grow and be with them every day. I want to be mummy!
“I'm definitely going to do that at some point, but I've still got more in me. I've still got ambition.
"I try and settle it down all the time and play it down, but I'm ambitious and I would still want to sing to people and do this job. It's an amazing feeling."
Also in 2020, Sam opened up about their gender identity, telling the Late Late Show: "Being able to tell everyone that and feel so much more open about certain parts of my personality and my life has been absolutely incredible."
Sam went on: "It's been amazing, but it's also been really, really hard to see all the backlash and the amount of people that are still so unsupportive of gender nonconforming people and trans people all around the world."
They continued: "It's definitely more of a struggle than I was expecting, but I feel good in my skin, which is the prize and the wonderful thing."
Sam added: "In a world where I wasn't a well-known person, I would have changed my pronouns and I would have got used to it in a normal way, which I actually tried to do.
"A message I sent to my family about changing my pronouns got leaked, weirdly, so I had to make a decision to tell everyone and go for it."
