Sam Quek, Kimberley Walsh and Sara Cox join BBC’s Morning Live ahead of Manchester city centre move

BBC One’s Morning Live is getting three new presenters ahead of a permanent move to Manchester city centre.

Joining co-hosts Kym Marsh and Gethin Jones of the popular daytime show will be hockey player Sam Quek, former Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh and BBC Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox.

The show will move to its new Manchester home at ABC Buildings on Quay Street from February 21, where it will air live on BBC One every weekday morning from 9.15am.

Since its launch in October 2020, Morning Live has featured celebrity guests, expert advice, health updates and tips to save time and money.

Rav Wilding and Janette Manrara also regularly take on hosting duties.

Morning Live experts include Dr Xand van Tulleken, Dr Punam Krishan, Jacqui Joseph, Dr Rupy Aujla, Dom Littlewood, Anna Haugh, Will Kirk, Wayne Perrey, Mark Lane and James Greenwood.

Sam Quek says: “I’m excited as we’ll be four female presenters who all hail from the North West. It’s like a northern powerhouse of women on TV every weekday morning!

“I’m from The Wirral and I’m so pleased that the move means we’ll be able to travel to not only Manchester, but other places like Liverpool and Leeds.

“We’ll be able to bring viewers a feeling for what’s going on around the UK.”

The relocation was announced as part of the BBC’s 'Across The UK' plan, which aims to 'move power and decision-making across the UK'.

The broadcaster said it is now the only major TV channel to broadcast four hours of live TV every week day morning from the North West, with Morning Live following BBC Breakfast.

Kimberley Walsh said of joining the show: "I love all the Morning Live girls so, although we won’t be on camera together, I’m hoping we’ll cross paths while I’m up there.

“Manchester's a brilliant city and I can’t wait to get started."

Sara Cox added: “Mancunians have a real sense of community spirit and that’s what Morning Live’s all about.

“We want to be like a knowledgeable friend to our viewers – that mate who’s good for a chat and a laugh over a brew but always offers great advice.

“One of the best things about the relocation for me is that I’ll be able to meet my mum for breakfast after I finish work on the show.”

Morning Live broadcasts Monday-Friday on BBC One Daytime at 9.15am.
