Sam Fender said he “rode Paolo Nutini“ after the pair spent the night “on the razz” together following a wild weekend playing TRNSMT in Glasgow.
The two rockstars first met at the major music festival in September last year and quickly bonded after Paolo turned up at Sam’s door with a bottle of whisky - and it seems the weekend has left a lasting impression on the Geordie singer.
Sam told Clyde 1: “It was a magical night last time I played here and I went on the razz with Paolo Nutini after.
“That was wicked. He was just giving me piggy back rides everywhere.”
The 27-year-old also revealed he was able to do a semi-decent Scottish accent and gave his best attempt at to impersonating the Paisley crooner.

Sam called the New Shoes star “absolutely class and hilarious”, adding: “He turned up backstage and just said ‘I’ve got you a wee present. I’ve got you a wee bottle of whisky, you’ve got to have this man, we’re going to have a great time.’
“And next thing you know I’m riding Paolo Nutini around the festival.
Presenter Callum Gallacher then took the opportunity to ask whether both singers would reunite backstage ahead of their performances at TRNSMT this summer.
Sam responded: “Yes we are going to have to round to it. I’ll ride a Paolo Nutini out on to the stage and then ride him out into the sunset.” Now that sounds like an unmissable show.
The Seventeen Going Under singer will appear in a special guest slot before Paolo Nutini on the Friday night (July 8).
