Sam Fender's massive gig at St James' Park sparked a ticket meltdown on Wednesday morning as fans rushed to the pre-sake link on Wednesday morning, before he announced a second date.
After a lot of speculation, sparked by him being spotted at Newcastle United' s famous ground a week earlier, North Shields Brit winne r Sam announced he and his band would be playing St James' on Friday, June 9 next year, the same day as the city's legendary Blaydon Race.
Revealing all in a social media post soundtracked by Geordie anthem Local Hero,. Sam said: "It's a childhood dream come true. I always joked that one day we might play St James' Park in Newcastle, the biggest stadium in the north east, and now we're actually gonna play it on the 9th June next year. It's gonna be such a special moment and I hope you all join us for it."

Well, everyone wants to be there but, judging by the reaction on Twitter when pre-sale tickets were made available at 10am on Wednesday morning, not many have managed to get tickets so far. Fans had until tea time on Tuesday to register for a special link from Sam to try and get tickets, meaning many were braced at their computers and phones ready to get some.
However, within seconds of the clock striking 10, Twitter was awash with worried posts from fans who'd been immediately hit with 'our website is very busy' messages. Those who got through (including this reporter!) who were hoping to get standing tickets were then left disappointed at being told they were unavailable almost straight away.
One fan reacted: "Aye pain and suffering with Sam Fender pre sale like," with another posting: "Never in my life have I not been able to get gig tickets even on pre sale, how did Sam fender ones defeat me then."
Sam confirmed all pre-sale tickets had been snapped up just over half an hour after going on sale, before announcing a second St James' Pak gig.
The launch of the pre-sale meant that fans now know how much tickets are. On SeeTickets, pitch standing and the best seats in the stands are £63.25, with other seats priced at £52.25.
To those who managed to get Sam pre-sale tickets, well done and to those who didn't, there's always the general sale on Friday!
