Sam Fender has taken to Instagram to post a powerful and emotional post with just hours to go until his first of two sell out gigs at St James' Park in Newcastle.
Since he took home the Brit Award for Critics Choice at the start of 2019, Sam has made some serious waves in the music industry, doing his native North East immensely proud with two number 1 albums, another Brit Award, sell out shows across the world, epic gigs at Tynemouth Priory, Utilita Arena and City Hall and by basically being awesome.
Sam's St James' Park gigs on Friday and Saturday night are a defining moment in an already amazing career, with him and his band getting to take to the stage on the hallowed turf of their beloved NUFC.
And, having been spotted leaving soundcheck early on Friday afternoon, am took to Instagram to give his fans just a hint about how he was feeling about the epic weekend that lies ahead for him.
Sharing a photo of him looking much younger on the pitch at St James', Sam wrote: "This day has been the subject of a joke for about 15 years of my life. When I formed my first band at 14, we would joke about playing here - but it was genuinely just a joke, we didn't believe it was possible, who would? We f**king did it boys. We f**king did it."
He added: "Thank you so much to every one of you, my friends, my family, my fans. You are the ones who made this happen, I am in debt to you all - and I intend on paying some of that back this weekend, " before ending the post: "For all the ones who didn’t make the night!"
