Sam Fender left in tears after meeting his musical hero Bruce Springsteen

Geordie star Sam Fender was left in tears after meeting his hero and lifelong inspiration Bruce Springsteen.

The Seventeen Going Under chart-topper shared his experience with his fans on social media. The 29-year-old, from North Shields, announced last year that he and his band would be touring with The Boss in Italy.

And he now he has finally met his hero. Sam took to Instagram and posted a photo of himself crying in the back of a car following the big moment.

Sam's eyes were full of tears and on his face, he had a look of shock and excitement as he lapped up the 'full circle' moment with his band members - who are also his longtime friends, reports The Mirror. Springsteen is currently touring Europe with The E Street Band where Fender was set to play alongside him at the Parco Urbano G. Bassani in Ferrari and then at Rome’s Circo Massimo on 21 May.

Last November, Sam shared the milestone news that he would be touring with The Boss in a gushing Instagram caption. “I’m thinking about the moment Springsteen’s music first resonated with me when I was a teenager! Next year I’m opening up for him in Italy. What the f*** is going on?” he wrote at the time.

Sam, known for his massive hits Hypersonic Missiles and Saturday, spoke about the comparison between him and Springsteen back in 2021 with NME. He said at the time: “I can’t exactly bat off those comparisons, can I? At the same time, I don’t feel worthy of that tag.

“The first time I heard it, I was like, ‘That’s f***** sick’, but you don’t want to be riding off the coattails of The Boss for the rest of your life. I can write my own songs, they’re different and my voice doesn’t sound anything like Springsteen’s. I don’t have his growl - I’m a little fairy when I sing.”
