Sam Fender threatened to blow the roof of Newcastle''s Utilita Arena with two back to back shows this week and now fans are calling for him to up the ante with a massive gig at St James' Park.
Tickets were like gold dust for Sam's performances at the arena on Tuesday and Wednesday, with online scammers attempting to profit from fans' desperation to get their hands on one. The clamour for tickets and the sell out crowd meant that the atmosphere inside the venue was at fever pitch by the time Sam and his band graced the stage.
The strains of Geordie anthem Local Hero filled the air as flags from Newcastle United favourites Wor Flags heralded Sam's arrival on home turf, before the Brit winner launched into hit single Will We Talk to kick off his setlist. Fans have been all over social media heaping praise on Sam, with his gigs attracting the likes of Newcastle United stars Kieran Trippier and Dan Burn and actor Robson Green.

Kieran caused a hell of a stir amongst football fans on social media, when he uploaded a video of Tuesday's gig along with the caption: "What an incredible evening @samfendermusic. Can’t beat the Newcastle crowd, Sunderland where you at?" Kieran is currently working hard to get back in action for Newcastle before the season is over, and speaking of the Magpies, Sam Fender fans reckon a gig on the hallowed turf of St James' Park should be next on the agenda for the Brit winner.
Twitter is awash with calls for Sam to play SJP. Tweeting in the aftermath of his arena concerts, one fan wrote: " @samfendermusic
Absolutely MUST play SJP." In firm agreement, another commented: "Arena too small for that guy SJP in the summer supported by Geordie legends," with a third echoing the same sentiments, reacting: "U have to play SJP Sam, Arena far too small for you.
Calling for things to happen ASAP, a Newcastle United fan tweeted: "Just want to put an idea out there… @samfendermusic performing at SJP before our final home game of the season with @worflags around him on the pitch. Howay @NUFC, make it happen." Over to you Sam!
