Sam Fender billboards appear outside St James' Park in Newcastle carrying 'mystery' QR code

Sam Fender fans taking a stroll around Newcastle on Wednesday night were in for a surprise, as billboards in honour of the local hero appeared outside St James' Park, the very venue he will be taking over on Friday and Saturday. And there's one particular detail that has got people talking - a mystery QR code on two of the posters.

It was back in September that North Shields star Sam announced he'd be playing the gig of his dreams at St James', with him announcing his big plans in true Geordie style, with a video of him on the pitch that's home to is favourite football team. After tickets for the first show sold out in a matter of minutes, a second was hastily put on sale, with that too selling out in quick time.

Well over 100,000 fans are set to descend on Newcastle United's ground this weekend, with so much buzz around the whole city as people get to see Sam and his band have a real career defining moment home turf. And now the excitement surrounding the SJP gigs has now been heightened ever further by the appearance of the billboards right near the stadium.

There are four in total, with all of them featuring the famous black and white shirts of the Magpies. There is a shirt with 1 on for Hypersonic Missiles, the second poster with a number 2 shirt for Seventeen Going Under and, that's where the plot thickens, as there's then a poster with a 3 shirt on, with a QR code right next to it.

The number 3 football top also appears on a fourth poster adorned with all three shirts.

Sam's support acts have now all been confirmed, with Brit stars sharing the stage with local acts and stage times for the gigs have also been released. Fans heading to St James' Park at the weekend will also need to be aware of Sam Fender entry and security rules and the Metro closures in place for both concerts.

Sam's St James' Park setlist is still very much shrouded in secrecy, especially given that some surprise guests have been rumoured, with Sam said to be lining up some Newcastle legends to appear with him.
