Sam Allardyce backs Robbie Keane to help Leeds survival push

Sam Allardyce has backed Robbie Keane to help Leeds in their survival push with the ex-Ireland striker joining the coaching staff.

Allardyce was named as Leeds boss for the final four games of the season with the club sacking Javi Gracia.

And Keane flew in from Dublin to join the coaching staff with Allardyce backing the former Leeds striker.

Speaking in his first press conference, Allardyce was asked what Keane can bring to the club.

. "I've known Robbie for quite a while. We've talked on many occasions about him getting into coaching. I worked with him at Soccer Aid a few times and all that. I really liked his personality.

"He was in my mind to come in and give everyone a lift, not just by his coaching... but also the fact that he's Leeds through and through isn't he? Loves the place."

First up for Leeds is Manchester City away on Saturday with the side on the verge of dropping into the relegation zone.
