It’s going to be a while before we see the New Orleans Saints running backs room at full strength. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Saints are putting Jamaal Williams on injured reserve after his recent hamstring injury, sidelining him for at least the next four games. The soonest he could return would be Week 7’s prime-time game with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 19.
That’s a shame. Williams didn’t have much to work with behind a flimsy Saints offensive line to start the season. And he never did get to form a tandem with rookie draft pick Kendre Miller, who missed the first two games nursing his own hamstring injury. Alvin Kamara is finally returning from his three-game suspension, but not until after the Saints wrap up proceedings with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
