The New Orleans Saints will be wearing their home jerseys on the road this week, with the Carolina Panthers opting to use their away uniforms in Charlotte on Sunday. That means the Saints are wearing their black jerseys (along with gold pants), which the team announced, likely in a ploy by the Panthers to make things a little hotter and heavier for the Saints under the North Carolina sunshine.
It probably won’t make much of a difference. Sunday’s weather forecast calls for a partly cloudy sky and highs of 79 degrees Fahrenheit, with 55% humidity. That’s, ah, kind of mild compared to the conditions the Saints practiced in all week — New Orleans just experienced highs of 91 degrees with humidity reaching up to 84%. The Carolina climate should make for a nice break for that sweatbox.
Anyway: here’s what you’re really here for. We’ve put together the win-loss record that the Saints have achieved while wearing each of their different uniform combinations, dating back to 2006:
- White jerseys, white pants: 9-3 (.727)
- “Black and Gold” throwbacks: 2-1 (.667)
- “Color Rush” alternates: 9-5 (.643)
- Black jerseys, gold pants: 24-14 (.632)
- White jerseys, black pants: 42-26 (.618)
- White jerseys, gold pants: 37-24 (.607)
- Black jerseys, black pants: 46-34 (.575)
