Sainsbury’s has today cut the price of over 40 dairy products in a further boost for shoppers.
The supermarket has reduced items including cheese, yoghurt and cream by up to 60%.
Sainsbury’s said the price cut won’t affect how much it pays farmers.
This isn’t the first major price cut in recent weeks as families continue to battle against price rises in stores.
Tesco kicked off the price war by reducing the price of milk, with Aldi, Lidl, Asda and Sainsbury’s all following suit.
Sainsbury’s went on to cut the price of some butter and bread products, with other supermarkets again following with similar announcements.
More recently, Tesco slashed the cost of pasta and cooking oil in stores after dropping the price of 30 items in stores.
Rhian Bartlett, Food Commercial Director at Sainsbury’s, said: “With the rate of grocery inflation remaining at a record high, we want to do everything we can to help our customers manage their budgets and keep prices low on the products they buy most often.
“Whenever we are paying less for the products we buy from our suppliers, we will pass those savings on to customers.
“As we see the commodity prices starting to fall for milk, we have lowered the price of over 40 own brand products in supermarkets.
“From today, customers will be able to save as much as 60% on the price of a wide range of items including hard and soft cheeses, yoghurts and cream.
“We are also adding popular dairy products to our Nectar Prices campaign for the first time tomorrow, including customer favourites like Lurpak and Philadelphia.
“We are relentlessly focused on offering our customers the best possible value so they know that they are getting a great deal on their everyday staples when shopping with us.”
