Sainsbury's and Tesco accused of cutting back on cheaper food

Following increases in the price of food, many shoppers many now be looking to buy more value and own-brand ranges.

But as the cost of living crisis deepens, Sainsbury's and Tesco are being accused of cutting back their low-cost food ranges, the Mirror reports.

The price of food has gone up by almost 10% in one year, according to latest figures. But Sainsbury's has around 1,630 Price Lock items now, compared to 2,100 at the start of 2022, Retail Gazette reports.
