People living on a Radford street have spoken of their sadness after a man collapsed and later died. Police cordoned off Norton Street this morning (Saturday, June 17) as the incident unfolded.
Nottinghamshire Police said they were called to the scene at 10.25am along with paramedics. The man was later pronounced dead at Queen's Medical Centre, and there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances.
Faraz Amar, a courier living on Norton Street, said: “It is obviously shocking and sad news, especially with everything else that has happened recently. I came out in the afternoon and there was nothing here, so the police must have left before then. It is unfortunate that it happened.”

The cordon was near the Mellers Primary School. Faraz, 32, added: “Luckily, it is not a school day. That would have been traumatizing for the children.
“I am passing on my condolences to the family of the man. It is very sad.”
Angela Regan, a retired resident who previously worked at the school, said: “It really is a shock. This area has a bad reputation, but nothing like this really happens around here.
“It is a shock especially after the tragedy. It is a lot for this city. It is just really sad. I am glad that the death is not believed to be suspicious.”
Another resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said police cars and an ambulance ‘flew’ past in the morning. She said: “I did not pay any attention at first.
“I saw one police car flew past, then another, then another ambulance flew past. I saw people up there and everything was cordoned off."
In a statement, Chief Inspector Paul Hennessy of Nottinghamshire Police said: "Police were called to Norton Street, Radford, at 1025 hrs 17/06/23 following reports of a collapsed male. Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service provided first aid but unfortunately the male was later declared deceased at the QMC. Police investigating the circumstances are content there are no suspicious circumstances and will be preparing a file for the coroner."
