Sadness as West Bridgford shop owner confirms closure 'with heavy heart'

The owner of a Nottinghamshire womenswear boutique has announced 'with a heavy heart' that the store is closing for good. Estilo has operated from Tudor Square in West Bridgford since 2017 but will shut towards the end of January.

Estilo offers a range of womenswear including dresses, knitwear and accessories. The shop also has a personal shopping service along with an online store.

In a heartfelt post online, owner Natalie Thackham announced that the shop will close on Saturday, January 28 and shared that she felt 'deep sadness' about having to make the decision to close.

She wrote: "It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that Estilo West Bridgford will close its doors for the last time on 28th January. Thank you to each and every valued customer that has walked through our door...this is not the end of Estilo, so watch this space!!!... if you have gift vouchers or credit notes they must be used by the 28th."

Shoppers shared their sadness at the news and wished Natalie good luck in the future. The shop had established itself in the community and held events like Macmillan coffee mornings and ladies' shopping evenings.

One person wrote: "So sad to see you go. Have loved your shop over the years and got some great pieces." Another commented: "So sorry to hear this Natalie, it is one of my favourite shops."

There have been a few retail closures in West Bridgford in recent weeks as The Blue Camel vintage shop, Hopology and also The Connaught House have also shut their doors. Residents fear more businesses will cease trading in the coming months due to high rents and inflation.

The cost of living increases, falling consumer spending and the energy crisis have all been listed as reasons for the closures. Shops have been unable to get back to pre-lockdown spending numbers after two years of uncertain restrictions and Covid regulations that forced closure for most of 2020.
