A Nottinghamshire bar has announced it has closed permanently after seven years in business. Spencer's on the Square, located in the town square in Retford, announced the news to customers on Friday night, May 20.
They say they are now going to find an alternative use for the site going forward. Spencer's has thanked all their staff and customers for their support over the years while they were open. The bar was set in a renowned auction house, which once operated in the town before being converted into a bar.
In a statement, the owner said: "I have taken the difficult decision to close the business on a permanent basis and find an alternative use for the site. I would like to thank staff, customers and suppliers for their support over the last seven years."

The business offered food as well as drinks, including breakfast, bottomless brunch and Sunday roasts. After hearing the news, customers expressed their sadness that the business was closing and wished their owners luck for their next venture.
One person wrote: "How sad for Retford, Spencer's added a touch of class to the town. Lovely place and staff, so welcoming. Good luck for the future."
