Shoppers have expressed sadness after a sandwich shop on the edge of Old Market Square closed. Easy Bite opened on Beastmarket Hill in 2020 the shop sold freshly made baguettes, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, chicken strips and salads. At the time the property had been empty for almost two years, after ice cream shop Dolcino closed in November 2018.
The shop has recently been cleared out and appears to have closed, although there has been no announcement in the shop window, or on Easy Bite's social media sites.

“I've been there plenty of times, it's a shame,” said Tony Perry from Carlton. The 52-year-old continued: “I don't mind Greggs but this was something different and now it's gone, it was quite a big place too.
"Hopefully it can be taken over soon as another food outlet, there's not much else they could put here but it seems a lot of takeaways and restaurants are closing down, I know some businesses are having a really hard time."
Marshall Dawson, 55, said: “I was just saying to my mum that it didn’t last long. Since the cost of living and pandemic there are many empty shops in Nottingham.
“They can’t compete with the others online. It affects everybody, it hits everywhere no matter where you are. I never went in, It didn’t feel like it had been for that long.”
Student Alissa Jay-Gordon said: "I hadn't been there before but it's never nice to hear of businesses closing down and it looks like quite a spacious building.
“I think there’s a lot of competition in the city centre, it’s next to Costa, Starbucks and Greggs. As a student it’s nice to have a range of different cafes and food places to grab something to eat at, I’ve never tried it but I always saw people in there when I walked past.”
