Sadio Mane sends heartfelt response to Mohamed Salah after Liverpool exit

Sadio Mane has sent a departing message to former Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah after he completed his £35m transfer to Bayern Munich.

Mane's move to the German champions was announced on Wednesday. The Reds will receive a fixed fee of €32m (£27.4m) with a further €9m (£7.7m) in add-ons for the forward.

And soon after the deal was announced as done, Salah sent an emotional message to his strike-partner. The Egyptian said: "It’s been quite a ride! Thank you for all the good times and I wish you all the best in your new adventure! You will be missed by all of us."

Ever the gentleman, Mane responded. "Keep doing your things. Brother you are the best," said the Senegalese, who has become the 14th leading goalscorer in Liverpool's history after netting 120 times in 260 appearances for the club.

Mane formed a deadly trio alongside Salah and Roberto Firmino during his six years at Anfield, winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, as well as the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in the season just gone.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on the former Southampton attacker, saying: “He leaves with our gratitude and our love. He leaves with his status among the greats guaranteed. And, yes, he leaves in a moment where he is one of the best players in world football.

“But we must not dwell on what we now lose, instead celebrate what we were privileged to have. The goals he scored, the trophies he won; a legend, for sure, but also a modern-day Liverpool icon."
