Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and former teammate Sadio Mane have been named in the final three for the upcoming CAF Awards.
The first list of nominations was confirmed at the end of the last month with the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Bertrand Traore, Mohamed Elneny and Naby Keita also up for the award. Now, CAF have revealed the final three for the Player of the Year award ahead of the ceremony on Thursday.
Salah and Mane will battle it out, along with Chelsea and Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, beating Salah's Egypt in the final.

The two nations met again not long after with a place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup up for grabs. Mane and Senegal came out on top once again and will be heading to Qatar later this year.
The CAF Awards Gala will take place on Thursday, July 21 in Rabat, Morocco. It will be broadcast live on the organisation's YouTube channel and website.
Mane and Salah played alongside each other at Liverpool for five years between 2017 and 2022, forming one of the most formidable forward lines in the game. However, Mane departed Anfield earlier this summer to take on a new challenge in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.
The pair have made up the top two in the award for three years running before it was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 as a result of the pandemic. Salah won the prize back to back in 2017 and 2018, before Mane was crowned the winner in 2019.
