A dog with "sad eyes" after spending six months in RSPCA care is still looking for a new home having not had a single person apply to adopt her.
Izzy, a seven-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Shar Pei cross, has been with RSPCA Derby for six months following a cruelty case.
She was removed from a Derbyshire home by an RSPCA inspector at the beginning of the year, as she was not receiving the care and love she required.
Upon arrival at the Abbey Street centre, she was severely underweight, had extremely sore and dirty ears and had a tumour.
It took fourth months for the courts to decide that Izzy should not be returned to her previous owner during which time the team at Abbey Street ensured Izzy benefited from a comfy bed, nutritious food and a safe and secure environment.
The team also got to work on Izzy's rehabilitation so she could begin to enjoy walks and exercise which she did not have much of before.
Now, the team is hoping someone comes forward to volunteer to adopt Izzy, reported DerbyshireLive.
Over the six months she has lived in the kennels, Izzy has not had a single application, something the RSPCA Derby cannot understand.
The Kennel Team leader Leanne Bojko said: "Izzy settled in well to kennel life, which is really quite sad. It's as if she knew she would be here for a long period of time.
"It is evident to see though that she has now reached her limit and her once lively spirit is starting to dwindle. Her eyes look sad and she doesn't bound towards me for a treat as she previously would have. She needs a permanent home, a safe space to call her own."
Izzy is happy to be in the company of people but is not overly needy, so it is likely she will be happy to spend some time alone in a home.
She needs to live with children over 12 years of age and will also need to be the only animal in the household.
Leanne added: "Izzy has not been socialised with other dogs; however, the animal care team and a small number of our volunteer dog walkers are working on this during her walks.
"She has come on leaps and bounds and is really enjoying being out on walks. She walks well on her lead."
