SA Police and Australian Border Force search Yorke Peninsula beach where cocaine bag washed up on Easter Sunday

South Australian police and Australian Border Force officers are searching a beach on the Yorke Peninsula after a bag of cocaine was found on the shore at Marion Bay on Easter Sunday.

Police believe the drugs found two days ago are connected with a haul of more than 400 kilograms of cocaine made nearby last month.

The drugs were found floating between the Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroo Island after allegedly being dropped from a cargo ship by a group of four Filipino men.

An SA Police spokeswoman said officers were conducting "a cursory and safety search of the beach and surrounding areas of Marion Bay after a package was found by members of the public on the beach believed to have come from the large haul of cocaine found on March 22".

"At this time no further packages or items have been located," she said.

Marion Bay fishing charter business owner Ryan Valente said the find was "kind of expected" after the large find about four weeks ago.

"It was still surprising to have it wash up so close to home, but, yeah, we did suspect the possibility that there may have been a little bit more," he said.

The Australian Federal Police is conducting forensic tests to confirm the drugs found on Sunday are connected with the larger haul.

An empty boat connected with the seizure was also found last month.
