"S*** themselves!" Patrice Evra gatecrashes live TV set to explain furious Man City row

Patrice Evra has revealed that his explosive row with a Manchester City member of staff stemmed from his claim that they “s*** themselves” against Real Madrid.

The former Manchester United and France defender was spotted involved in a tense altercation with City staff on Wednesday evening following the home side’s 4-0 drubbing of the Spanish side. Evra had to be calmed down by Pep Guardiola 's assistant Manel Estiarte at the end of the game.

It was initially a mystery as to what had triggered the outburst although there was some suspicion that it was to do with the red suit that he sported in an effort to show his allegiance to the Red Devils. He featured on American channel CBS after the final whistle and was asked to talk through his evening - including the row.

After being introduced by presenter Kate Abdo, Micah Richards initially questioned Evra’s choice of attire. The ex-Man City star asked: “Is it Christmas? Why are you wearing a red suit?”

To which Evra replied: “Because I’m a United legend, that’s why. By the way, there’s one game left so don’t celebrate yet. You didn’t win yet so calm down, relax.”

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher was keen to get down to the main talking point though. He asked: “Did you have a little bit of trouble on the side of the pitch before with the Man City [coach]? What was that?”

Evra suggested that the incident centred around previous claims about City’s exit at the hands of Real Madrid last term. The former defender said: “No I agree with you because he was looking at me like ‘this is for you, this is for you’.

“So I came close and said ‘why are you shouting?’ He said because I said on TV last year that they s*** themselves, that’s why they lose against Madrid.”

Richards also attempted to intervene in the midst of Evra’s claims but once again he was keen to shut down any argument. “I said this year that they didn’t s*** themselves,” he added.

“But that’s the truth Micah. But you know I’m an honest man, I’m straight. He apologised and he said everything was okay.”

Following Estiarte’s apology, CBS host Abdo was also forced to stage something similar in response to Evra’s language, whilst Arsenal icon Thierry Henry jokingly hid behind her.

“The audition isn’t going so well because we don’t cuss on this show,” she said. “Apologies America.”

Evra though continued his amusing rant and claimed that Abdo should not apologise. He responded: “Pooing is not cursing! You shouldn’t invite me.”

The ex-Red Devil’s entertaining cameo continued for a few minutes as he was then called out by Abdo for not tucking his shirt in. He then jokingly got in the middle of Peter Schmeichel and Carragher as they debated Man City’s chances of claiming the treble, whilst he also demanded payment from Richards for his appearance on the broadcast before strutting away.
