S Club 7 star Jo O'Meara in tears as she adopts adorable dog from Romania

Jo O'Meara has welcomed a new addition to her family after she adopted a homeless dog from Romania who she has called Sisi.

The S Club 7 star's new pooch travelled three days in a van across Europe to meet to be united with her famous owner and Jo, 43, shared the exciting moment with her fans on Instagram.

Posing in a sweet snap with her new furry friend, Jo looked over the moon to welcome Sisi into her clan.

Alongside the snap, the Reach singer penned: "Today's a very special day, we have just arrived in the Canterbury where we will be picking up a little rescue dog that has come all the way over from Romania as part of the K9Angels.

"Myself and Cindy have decided that we want to give this little girl a home, and we are about to meet her for the very first time. I expect she'll be really frightened."

The singer then showed off Sisi's travel documents, which confirmed she was a pekingese breed and revealed that she's seven years old.

Jo is also a proud dog mum to two pooches Wilson and Wilma, who will now be welcoming Sisi into their clan.

The pop star told fans about the dog rescue scheme that had led her to meeting Sisi, and captioned her video: "So today something amazing happened.

"The wonderful @victoriapearcewriter told myself and @cindylazarus about a little girl who needed rehoming, she was a street dog in Romania and then was rescued by a wonderful lady, but sadly things changed and she needed to be rehomed.

"She is the sweetest girl And Wilson And Wilma have adapted to her already."

It comes after Jo recently opened up about her health battles.

Jo recently lifted the lid on her 'rough and painful' time after undergoing a back operation a number of months ago.

The singer spent eight days at Queen's hospital in Romford after surgeons removed part of a disc in her back.

She has been slowly recovering but it comes with good and bad days.

Appearing on Loose Women, the star explained: "I'm a lot better than what I was. Yeah, it's been a really rough few months, to be honest. It's been very painful. I've had good days and bad days with it.

"I think sometimes you just got to soldier through it and then other times you just want to know how long the pain is going to last."

She had her first surgery in September and had four operations in total.

The singer has been suffering from chronic back pain for decades and revealed she had issues with her back when she was in her early 20s.

After going to an osteopath, she was told she had a slipped disc.

Following the operations, Jo was left to take a different number of pain medications, but none - including morphine - seemed to take the edge off her unbearable pain.
