Rylan Clark to step down from Strictly Come Dancing spin off 'It Takes Two'

Rylan Clark has taken to social media to announce his departure from the Strictly Come Dancing spin-off 'It Takes Two.'

The host revealed to his 1.7million Twitter followers that he will be 'hanging up his glittery jacket and saying goodbye.'

In the announcement post, he wrote: "Been a pleasure @bbcstrictly x'

The statement read: "After four fantastic years it's time for me to hang up my glittery jacket and say goodbye to It Takes Two.

"I've had the best time hosting alongside Janette and Zoe and I can't thank the amazing team enough for always putting on a great show."

He continued: "I've been welcomed into the Strictly family and will firmly hold that title dear to me. The time has come for me to pass on the baton to someone else and explore what else life has for me.

"Thank you Strictly, you will always have my heart...and my dancing feet."

Strictly's official Twitter page paid tribute to Rylan's time on It Takes Two.

They wrote: "@Rylan is stepping down from hosting duties on #ItTakesTwo. Thank you Rylan for the last four years, continuing the sparkle of Saturday night throughout the week. You will be sorely missed by the entire Strictly family."

A statement on behalf of Kate Phillips, director of BBC Unscripted read: “On behalf of BBC Two, BBC Daytime, and Strictly fans everywhere, I want to thank Rylan for entertaining audiences so brilliantly for the past four years on Strictly It Takes Two.

“Rylan’s infectious personality, his stand-out sass and his genuine love for all the glitz and glamour of the ballroom, has been a big part of It Takes Two’s continued success.

“Rylan will always be part of the Strictly family of course, but I know he‘ll be hugely missed by all the Strictly It Takes Two viewers, Janette and everyone else who works on the show.”

Strictly fans were left saddened by the news as one fan wrote: "Ooooh. My family won’t be happy mate. They love this show xx," and another added: "During the last season the hubby and I chatted about how you'd really grown into the show and made it your own over the last few years. We will miss you. Good luck xx."

A third said: "Oh Rylan we will miss you sooooo much, but wishing you all the very best in your new ventures!"

The show was originally hosted by Claudia Winkleman but in 2011 Zoe Ball took over and was joined by Rylan in 2019 as a co-host.

In 2021, Zoe announced she would be stepping down and Janette Manrara was later confirmed as her replacement.

It comes as the star announced another big career move last week.

The popular presenter, who rose to fame on The X Factor 11 years ago, is set to join the legendary radio drama The Archers for a special guest slot on Radio 4.

It will be the meeting of two iconic UK institutions as Rylan takes part in the world's longest-running serial drama for a Eurovision special, as writes the Mirror.

Supermarket Sweep host Rylan, 34, will star as himself who has been invited to judge the Eurovision variety show being held in Ambridge, the fictional village the soap is set in.

Rylan said he's happy to be taking on the new challenge, adding to The Sun: "I’m looking forward to getting my wellies on and checking out what Eurovision excitement Ambridge’s residents have to offer as I pop into the iconic Archers."

"I’ve seen some drama throughout my time but nothing compares to what’s about to unfold in Ambridge."

Rylan recently admitted he'll have to be "a bit better behaved' at Eurovision this year as it's being held on home turf when it takes place in Liverpool in May.
