Rylan Clark says Ruth and Eamonn were 'frightened' about his state after marriage split

Rylan Clark has confessed his "telly mum and dad" Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were "frightened and shocked" by his state following his public marriage split.

The presenter, 33, says the pair were extremely supportive during the dark times as he dealt with the breakdown of his marriage to Dan Neal.

The former X Factor star explained how he nearly lost control last summer as he came to terms with what had happened.

Speaking to The Sun he said: "There was a point when I was really, really bad when I went back to my house that I'd moved out of.

"I hadn't been there for so long because I didn’t feel comfortable.

"My mum and sister-in-law were acting really weird and I didn't know why. Next thing, Eamonn and Ruth turned up and I just broke down."

Rylan explained how the duo seemed "frightened and shocked" at the state in which they found him.

And he confessed just looking back at the incident made him get emotional.

Rylan and Dan's marriage of six years came to an end last year and he told how it severely affected his mental health.

He revealed how, although he is trying to rebuild his life, he needs to learn to trust again.

He continued: "I want nothing more than to be with someone who supports me and I support them and is proud of me and is happy for me and vice versa. That's all I want.

"But I’m in no rush. It has to be right."

Rylan insists he is now happy with who is in his life after spending a lot of time hiding away and being off work and admits he's now working on "finding a new life".

In his latest memoir, the presenter opened up on his tough year and joked how he "should have only lasted ten minutes" in showbiz despite still being a popular figure 10 years on.

Taking to Instagram, he told his 1.5 million followers:" [I've] Learned so many lessons, especially in the last year but it’s been a journey, and I can’t wait to share it with you very soon."

He added that his book will be available from September 29 and offered signed copies to his fans.

He first appeared on the X Factor in 2012 and has gone on to forge a successful presenting career, taking on tasks such as the reboot of Supermarket Sweep and his own Radio 2 show.
