Rylan Clark has opened up about his marriage split and the toll it took on his mental health. The radio and TV star split from husband Dan Neal in 2021 after six years. The news came out amid Rylan's four-month break from the spotlight.
Rylan, 33, bravely opened up about his struggles during that period earlier this year, where he admitted that for the first time in his life he felt 'alone'.
But now, in a new interview, the BBC Radio 2 host has said his "telly mum and dad", Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, were concerned about the "state" he was in and how he nearly lost control last summer as he came to terms with what had happened.

Speaking to The Sun, Rylan said: "There was a point when I was really, really bad when I went back to my house that I’d moved out of. I hadn’t been there for so long because I didn’t feel comfortable. My mum and sister-in-law were acting really weird and I didn’t know why. Next thing, Eamonn and Ruth turned up and I just broke down."
Rylan went on to say that Eamonn and Ruth were "frightened" and "really shocked" at how they found him. He also confessed that just looking back at the incident made him get emotional.
While now trying to rebuild his life, and undergoing an incredible fitness transformation, Rylan said he needs to learn to trust again. "I want nothing more than to be with someone who supports me and I support them and is proud of me and is happy for me and vice versa," he said. "That's all I want. But I’m in no rush. It has to be right," the former X Factor star added.
Rylan showed that he still has a close bond with Ruth earlier this year as he marked her birthday with a special tribute. The pair, who have hosted This Morning together in the past, shared a sweet social media exchange.
Taking to his social media pages, Rylan shared a an image of them both wearing matching black outfits - with Ruth adding a touch of sparkle to her look - as they were snapped leaving a venue holding hands.
"Happiest of birthdays to my tele mother @ruthlangsford love you lots," the TV star started his post on both Instagram and Twitter. May we have many more years of holding each others hand! Xxxx."
Ruth was soon responding to the heartwarming message, writing; "Thank you son! Always here to hold your hand," with an added heart emoji as Rylan said: "Always."
Fans will soon be able to read more about Rylan's life as he releases his second memoir. Taking to Instagram, he told his 1.5 million followers about his latest venture, writing: "TEN: The decade that changed my future. Wow. All the emotions. This book celebrates ten years of me being in this crazy industry.
"We all know I should have lasted ten minutes, so how I’ve lasted ten years, I’ll never know. Learned so many lessons, especially in the last year but it’s been a journey, and I can’t wait to share it with you very soon."
