Rylan and Scott Mills brand Liverpool their favourite Eurovision ever

Rylan Clark and Scott Mills commended Liverpool's work as the Eurovision Song Contest host city.

The semi-final commentators have been in the city for weeks to soak up the atmosphere. During their time here, they've carried out their professional duties but still managed to experience the city's nightlife and culture.

Those working close to the Liverpool contest, including Eurovision's directing supervisor Martin Österdahl, admit this year has set a new standard, with Rylan and Scott declaring it their favourite yet.

Speaking to the Liverpool ECHO, Rylan said: "Tel Aviv was such an amazing experience. Israel really threw everything at Eurovision and it's always been our favourite up until now so instead of saying, 'It's great but it's not Tel Aviv,' now we're going to say, 'It's great but it's not Liverpool."

Scott said: "Sometimes when you go to these places, you see no visible signs of it happening in the city. As we know you cannot miss it. Everything from Jemini performing in John Lewis to popup karaoke machines and all the art installations and the blue and yellow flowers - I've never seen a city embrace it as much as this."

Rylan added: "I've been so startled at the 200 cardboard cut outs of myself." Scott went on to say the reaction from fans around the city has added to his overall experience.

He said: "There are a lot of people from Liverpool but there are so many people here just having the best time. I met a couple from Brighton yesterday who had never been to Liverpool before and I just think it's been a great advert for this city."
