As 2023 begins, most people will be booking time off work already to sort out their holidays for summer and beyond - we're all craving a bit of sun right now.
However, when it comes to flying abroad, there are rules set in place for making it through the airport, reports the Daily Record. Most airlines all have different requirements when it comes to both hold luggage and the bag you bring on with you onto the plane.
Some will refuse oversized bags while others will allow you to bring a bigger bag for an added price. But, what are the different rules for all the airlines available?

easyJet
EasyJet permits one small cabin bag per person on board for free. The bag must be within the requirements of 45 x 36 x 20 cm - including handles or wheels.
The bag also needs to fit under the seat in front of you. The luggage can weight up to 15kg, but easyJet does ask that you’re able to lift and carry it yourself.
Bags larger than this or any additional bags will be placed in the hold and incur the airport bag fee of £39.99.
Ryanair
You are permitted by Ryanair to bring a small personal bag onboard, which must fit under the seat in front of you. Dimensions are 40 x 20 x 25 cm at their maximum.
Oversized cabin luggage will be refused at the boarding gate. However, if available, they can be placed in the hold for a hefty fee of £69.99 - this fee is subject to VAT on domestic flights at applicable government rates.
If you are unsure whether your bag is the correct size, check it at the Bag Drop desk before going through security.
Jet2
Jet2 allows passengers to carry on board one piece of hand luggage free of charge, as long as it weighs no more than 10kg. The bag must also not be bigger than their maximum dimensions of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, including any wheels and handles.
If it exceeds the limits, your bag will have to be checked into the aircraft hold. You can also bring a small, personal item on board (such as a handbag, laptop bag or airport purchase), as long as it is placed underneath the seat in front of you.
TUI
On a TUI Airways flight, you can carry one piece of hand luggage of up to 10kg for free. The maximum dimensions of your hand luggage can be 55x40x20 cm.
You must also be able to lift the bag into the overhead storage by yourself. Things like laptops, handbags and items bought at the airport must fit within your one piece of hand luggage.
British Airways
All British Airways customers are allowed to carry one piece of hand luggage and one small item on board. These pieces of hand luggage must be smaller than their maximum dimensions of 56x45x25 cm.
