Ryan Tubridy tells viewers what to expect from final Late Late Show as host

Ryan Tubridy has outlined plans for his final Friday night as host of The Late Late Show, teasing a Toy Show reunion as the 49-year-old bows out after 14 years at the helm.

Ryan's final show comes next Friday, May 26, and amid ongoing speculation about who could potentially join the Dubliner for his swansong, he has hinted at what viewers can expect.

"I'll be back here next week for my last ever Late Late Show. I'm looking forward to a night of celebration and fun with great people and the session to end all sessions," he told viewers at the end of Friday night's show.

He added: "We're also going to have a Toy Show reunion, some of the youngsters, to see how tall they are now. It's going to be lovely.

"So you're all invited to join the party. Won't you come along for one more for the road?

"Thanks for watching and take care. We're nearly there. Goodnight."

Many viewers of last night's penultimate Late Late Show with Ryan as host felt an air of farewell about the programme as he welcomed the likes of Tanaiste Micheal Martin, comedy favourite Mario Rosenstock and Eddie Hearn to the sofa, ahead of a lengthy interview with rock icon Noel Gallagher.

Also on the lineup were podcasting pals Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally, who have been backed into third favourites to replace Ryan.

A decision has yet to be made on who will take over from Ryan, who has been at the helm since 2009, but Co Down comedian Patrick Kielty remains the overwhelming favourite, according to bookmakers.

While a few surprises are expected for Ryan's final show, it's understood he is eager for a low-key affair without much fuss.

A source told RSVP: "He doesn't want to go out with a bang or make the episode into a massive spectacle, he wants it to be a low-key night.

"However, those working behind the scenes want to make sure it is a night to remember for both Ryan and his loyal viewers at home.

"The team have a few tricks up their sleeves so they will meet in the middle somewhere. The exact details of the show are a closely guarded secret."
