Ryan Tubridy has confirmed he is taking a short two-week long break from his RTE radio show.
The 49-year-old radio broadcaster hosts his own show between the 9am-10am slot on RTE Radio 1 each Monday to Friday. Tubridy recently announced his plans to leave The Late Late Show after 14 years, and on Tuesday he told his listeners during his radio show that he is taking a short break and that he will be back on the airwaves on April 10.
At the end of his show on Tuesday, Tubs said: "I've got lots of TV things and bits and pieces to be doing in the next few days so I won't be here, and next week I'll be on a bit of a mid-term break, but I'll be back in for TV again.

"So the lads will look after you between now and then. In the meantime, thanks to everyone for putting it all together. I'll see you Monday week," added Tubridy.
He also said that he is "excited" about his upcoming Late Late Show country special which is set to air this Friday. Tubridy said: "My last ever [Late Late Show] country special is on this Friday which I am excited about, to see everybody. It's all go.
"Mind yourselves and see you on the other side," he added. While Tubs didn't mention who will be filling in for him on his radio show, in the past he has usually been replaced by Oliver Callan or Baz Ashmawy.
Tubridy's break from radio comes amid growing speculation over who will replace him as host of the Late Late Show. When he announced that he was stepping away from the role, Miriam O'Callaghan initially emerged as the front runner for his replacement before she ruled herself out.
Claire Byrne is among the favourites to take over as Late Late Show host, while, Tommy Tiernan, Baz Ashmawy and Lucy Kennedy are among fellow RTE colleagues whose names have been thrown into the ring to possibly succeed Tubridy. RTE has not yet confirmed who will replace Tubridy as host of the Late Late Show.
