Ryan Stevenson slams Hearts idiots for vandalising sacred crest amid Robbie Neilson unrest

Ryan Stevenson has slaughtered the idiots who have desecrated the Foundation Plaza at Tynecastle and insists their pathetic efforts to remove Robbie Neilson won’t succeed.

The Hearts crest was spray-painted with the words f*** off Neilson and it has sparked outrage among supporters. Former Jambos attacker Ryan Stevenson is with them insisting the yob who did it was effectively vandalising his own home.

Neilson and his player have been getting stick after a poor run of four defeats in five Premiership matches that has allowed Aberdeen to close the gap on them in third place to just one point.

Stevenson told the Daily Record: “That crest is sacred. It’s named after the supporters who went over and above for the club so for a so-called fan to daub an x-rated message aimed at Robbie Neilson over it is the height of stupidity and ignorance.

“If people want to hold up banners to call for the manager’s head then that’s fine. That’s the nature of the beast. But defacing part of the ground, which the club has worked so hard to make first class, is like vandalising your own home if you’re a genuine fan and no matter their opinion of Robbie Neilson it’s absolutely wrong.

“It’s not the first time either. When Craig Levein was in the firing line four years ago someone got their paint brush out and dissed the badge on the plaza. Within 24 hours of that incident in October 2019 Levein was gone.

“Don’t expect the same outcome this time though. Nor should we. Nobody should be losing their job just now. Hearts are still in third after all and if they manage to turn form round and finish in that position then it will have been a positive season.

“Any knee-jerk decisions would be out of character for this business-savvy board. Hearts have come a long way in a short period of time so why risk all that?”
