Ryan Reynolds has revealed he is actively taking steps to reunite with Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy following the success of Deadpool and Wolverine.

The Canadian actor and writer, 48, is going to put pen to paper next year in the hopes of writing a new movie he can co-star in with Jackman, 56, and for Levy, 56, to direct.

“I’m spending the year writing,” he told US publication Variety. “I’m writing a movie for myself, Hugh and Shawn to do that is not Marvel.”

While he would not go into details about the project, this would mark the first non-Marvel movie he and Jackman will have appeared in together.

In addition to Deadpool and Wolverine which was released earlier this year, they also appeared in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The news comes after Jackman was confirmed to headline next year’s BST Hyde Park.

The Australian-native will take to the Great Oak Stage on July 6 to perform to his biggest UK audience to-date.

In addition to being a big box office draw, Jackman has carved out a successful career for himself on the stage, appearing both in the West End and on Broadway and in his native Oz.

After making his musical theatre debut as Gaston in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in Australia, Jackman’s theatre résumé also includes an Olivier-nominated performance in the West End’s Oklahoma! and a Tony Award-winning role in Broadway’s The Boy from Oz.

He won plaudits when he brought his singing skills to the 2012 film Les Misérables and 2017’s The Greatest Showman.

Jackman then returned to Broadway in 2021 for a revival of The Music Man, which earned him another Tony Award nomination.

Tickets are on sale now for Hugh Jackman: From London with Love at BST Hyde Park, which marks five years since his last UK stage show.

Jeff Lynne’s ELO were announced as the first headliner in what is set to be their final ever show. Meanwhile, country artist Zach Bryan will play two nights after being unveiled as the second headliner.

Menawhile, folk-pop star Noah Kahan has been announced as the fourth headliner alongside guest singer Gracie Abrams.
