Ryan Reynolds' jaw-dropping net worth, Wrexham investment, £269m business venture

Ryan Reynolds' ownership of Wrexham alongside Rob McElhenne y has catapulted the Welsh club into the spotlight, with the Hollywood star helping the club towards an expected promotion into the EFL.

The Deadpool actor has brought star quality to North Wales, with his business partner and fellow actor McElhenney. They took over the club officially in the autumn of 2020 and investments have been made both with the playing staff as well as the club's facilities, with a new 5,000 stand being built at one end of the Racecourse Ground.

Their arrival has transformed the club's fortunes, with their first full season resulting in a heartbreaking play-off defeat before rallying this season. The Dragons have been locked in a fierce battle with Notts County to secure the single automatic promotion place in the division, winning a crucial match 3-2 in April thanks to a Ben Foster penalty save in the 95th minute.

The National League side have broken the points record for England's top five divisions, with Reading's 2005/06 Championship tally of 106 eclipsed with three games to spare. Such an achievement is testament to the hard work that has been put into building a sustainable project, with Reynolds being an experienced businessman with a number of ventures to his name away from acting.

What is Ryan Reynolds' net worth?

One of the most recognisable faces in Hollywood, Reynolds has become such a big star thanks to his role in Deadpool, which grossed more than $780 million (£627 million) worldwide and sequel Deadpool 2, which earned more than $688 million (£553m) at the box office.

As a result, his net worth, according to celebritynetworth.com, is $350 million (£281m), meanwhile, his wife Blake Liveley is believed to have a net worth of $30 million (£24.2m) as per the same source.

What are his other business interests?

His personal wealth has been boosted by a sale of the Aviation Gin brand, which has been visible as a sponsor of Wrexham since the pair's takeover of the club.

His stake, believed to be around 20 per cent, dated back to an investment made in 2018, which then helped the company towards a takeover from drinks giant Diageo, in a deal worth up to $610million (£490m) dependent on sales, with an up front payment of $335 million (£269m).

In addition to this, he recently was involved in the sale of mobile company Mint Mobile to telecoms giant T-Mobile for $1.35billion (£1.12bn). Reynolds was believed to have a minority stake in the business, but with a potential nine-figure sum to add to his already huge net worth.

How much has he invested in Wrexham?

The duo invested a reported initial £2 million in the North Wales club back in November 2020, with confirmation coming in the summer of 2022 that a further £1.2m of equity had been invested into the club by Reynolds and McElhenney.

This will help push the club towards a dream of one day reaching the Premier League, with taste of their dream coming with friendlies against Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea in the USA this summer.
