Ryan Reynolds has Wrexham selling point that trumps Saudi Arabia transfer temptation

Wrexham defender Ben Tozer believes the project Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are building in North Wales is more exciting than anything on offer in Saudi Arabia this summer.

The Middle Eastern clubs have been spending big to lure some of the top talents to their shores in the summer transfer window. Celtic star Jota was the latest player to complete a move, joining Al Ittihad on Monday where he will play alongside Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante. Midfielder Marcelo Brozovic opted to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.

While the Red Dragons' Hollywood pair cannot afford the same fees and wages as Saudi Arabia as they prepare for life in League Two for the first time in 15 years, Tozer believes their project is more enticing than a switch to the Pro League.

When asked if he would hypothetically move to Saudi Arabia from Wrexham, Tozer told talkSPORT: "The money is the money, of course. In Saudi Arabia, that is something that sets them and their families up for life and you can’t really begrudge them.

"But playing for this club is so exciting at the moment. It’s really on the up. The stadium sells out every week, we won a trophy last year, we are hoping to emulate that again this season.

"All the noise around the club, whether you like it or you don’t, it’s exciting and positive. So it’s a great place to be and I’m thankful I’m here."

Tozer and his teammates will be jetting off to the US later this month for a pre-season tour. The popularity of the 'Welcome to Wrexham' documentary means fans have been itching to see the newly promoted side play in America. Phil Parkinson's men will face Manchester United, Chelsea, La Galaxy II and Philadelphia Union II during their time in the US.
