Ryan Reynolds details what it was like going to Travis Kelce’s game with Taylor Swift

Ryan Reynolds has dished what it was like to step out at a sporting event with Taylor Swift to help cheer on her reported new NFL player boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

The Deadpool actor, 46, joined singer Swift, 33, along with his wife Blake Lively, 36, Sophie Turner, 27, Hugh Jackman, 54, and a host of other celebrities as the Kansas City Chiefs took on the New York Jets at the MetLife Stadium on October 1.

Swift’s crew of famous faces appeared to be having a blast as they watched the Chiefs beat their opponents, in between taking selfies and sipping on cocktails.

Reynolds told Extra: “It’s a lot of fun. The NFL right now is reaching a kind of fever pitch that is usually only reserved for the Super Bowl, but here we are at the fourth or fifth game of the year and it’s already happening.”

While Reynolds is more synonymous with UK football these days, as co-owner of Welsh side Wrexham FC, he has been a fan of the American equivalent for as long as he can remember and says he jumped at the chance to go.

Hugh Jackman posted a picture enjoying the game with Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and Taylor Swift (Hugh Jackman/Instagram)

“I played football when I was a kid. I loved it. I love watching it. I continue to, I will always watch it. It’s a great sport,” he added.

Anti-Hero hit-maker Swift has so far attended two of Kelce’s games with each appearance leading to a media frenzy and the National Football League seemed only too happy to participate.

Not only did the NFL change the background on its X account, formerly known as Twitter, to a picture of Swift, but its Chiefs game promotions and coverage during the October 1 match majorly focused on Swift.

After the Chiefs defeated the Jets, the league updated its Instagram biography to read: “Chiefs are 2-0 as Swifties,” a reference to Swift’s fanbase known as “Swifties”.

Football enthusiasts weren’t as enthused by the crossover, with some on social media accusing the NFL of trying to capitalise on Kelce’s reported romance with Swift.
